Discuss this article in our forums Do you really want CAR PARKING CHARGES in Crowborough?
Wealden have said - "Charging for car parking in the Council's off street car parks has the potential to raise between £100k and £1 million, depending on the level of charges….Cabinet have asked officers to investigate….options."
Residents, businesses and visitors have until Monday 28th January to make their views known. As with all these things, 'no response' BY THAT DATE will be interpreted as acceptance /agreement so please give some thought to the implications of car parking charges as you see them and make your views known direct to Mr Steven Linnett at Wealden District Council (contact details shown below).
The vast majority of businesses and residents have consistently been against any proposals to introduce car parking charges in Crowborough. This is such an important issue for business people and residents alike and could have far reaching consequences on the future economy of our town.
If you agree the retail economy in our town is fragile enough currently – please make your views known before it is too late!

Crowborough's Unique Selling Point is Free Parking
Of all the towns in mid to north Wealden, Crowborough is most likely to be adversely affected as it so close to Tunbridge Wells
The efforts of local business people to revitalise the town and its economy will be totally undermined
It will be even more difficult to recruit and retain staff in Crowborough
Car parking charging will increase parking in residential areas near to the town centre
Public transport needs to be significantly improved before charges are even considered
Parking illegally is a big enough problem already and that will get worse
Don’t leave it to others - have your say in your own words on the budget proposals, but especially car parking charges and what that would mean locally
